::Double room was ok but they didnt have any washing machine working , nor had it worked for some time ,there is no restarant there despite the ads saying there is , but plenty of eating places nearby , room was clean , dorm toilet was very high in the summer heat , subway about 10 minute walk up the road .

::Reasonable value for money, considering the prices in Beijing these days. The hotel is 15-20 mins walk south-west of Tiananmen Square, but there's plenty of shops to look at & restaurants to eat in, along the way. The He Ping Men subway on the blue Circle Line is less than 10 mins walk.

::Staying at the Far East Hotel is such a depressing experience, it's almost hard to describe. Don't believe it for a second if they say you're getting a non-smoking room. Every room has been smoked in, and every hallway is filled with it. And they will dismiss your concerns even if you have allergies. And if you're unfortunate to have your air conditioning explode in the middle of the night, they won't fix it until you remind them several times. I've stayed in plenty of "slumming" locations in the past, so that isn't my complaint. It's the general lack of concern from everyone who works at the hotel.
